Devoted to the production for a long time now, Vojtěch Smetana alias Smeti musically evolved throughout the years, from the industrial-inspired sounds of his former project Anhedonia, later he created contributions for sound banks under the civil name while polishing his own sonic palette and shifted more into club-oriented genres by the time, releasing deep vibes and atmospheric as well as melodic works mainly affected by techno, but with dub, garage, and house influences too...
Meanwhile, he was developing and playing live sets, putting out the prior album and a row of EPs as Smeti moniker again, and started the recording process of material for "Unforeseen Events“ after that, when also the fatherhood came in…

The cover artwork, full of prehistoric motifs printed on risograph - a specific technique, outdated but with a very distinctive visual style - is reminding and refers to the ritualistic nature of dance music, same like its animalistic aspects and socialization and celebratory purposes, yet from the dawn of the humanity.

Saying about this long-play by the author himself:
All the work on the album took place at night in the home studio in short periods of time after the children were put to sleep, and was created mainly during the pandemic lockdowns.

The majority of the stuff on "Unforeseen Events“ is very personal, most definitely the one which features vocals by Voj from the band Voj & 3ska. Vojta once approached me with an offer to remix their song and the idea to co-operate in the future was inevitable.
The theme of the lyrics for "Hold Ya" mainly reflects the time when our daughter Rozálie was born, and the second track also carries her name.

The remix of "Yidaki“ was provided by my friend Marek Hradil (aka DJ Destroyer, Mad Maverick, VCR) who then did remote supervision during the mastering and I consulted him on everything, including the mix.

The rest of the tracks were created during the last two years and I honestly tested them all at live performances. This record is heavily inspired by techno and house but packs all sorts of influences from ambient to 80‘s synth sound, trip-hop, and chill-out, but industrial as well…
